Safer Journeys
Safer Journeys is the government's strategy to guide improvements in road safety over the period 2010–2020. The strategy's vision is a safe road system increasingly free of death and serious injury and introduces the Safe System approach to New Zealand.
The strategy is how New Zealand will contribute to the United Nations' Decade of Action for Road Safety.
Safer Journeys action plan 2011-2012
The Safer Journeys action plan, released by the Minister of Transport at the Decade of Action for Road Safety launch on 11 May 2011, is an important step towards a safer road system for New Zealand.
The action plan builds on the Safer Journeys strategy, and sets out a Safe System approach to road safety with actions over the next two years for safe roads and roadsides, safe speeds, safe vehicles and safe road use.
Improving road safety is something that everyone can contribute to and all New Zealanders are urged to play a part and ensure safety is a priority when it comes to the roads.
