Graduate Policy Advisers
Ministry of Transport, Wellington
Are you looking for a position where you can make a difference to the future of New Zealand, work with forward-thinking people and take up challenging professional development opportunities?
The Ministry of Transport is the government’s policy adviser on transport issues, and we are looking for graduate policy advisers to join our team.
Effective transport is critical to our economy and society. We provide advice on funding, investment and regulatory arrangements needed to support a sound transport system. We have advised on major transport investments such as the Auckland rail link, rebuilding the Christchurch transport infrastructure and a new port at Clifford Bay. We are working closely with a range of other organisations to consider how to improve road safety, for example whether to adopt a policy on alcohol similar to other developed nations. We negotiate international air agreements and deal with air and maritime security. We also support the Minister of Transport on major transport challenges, recently working on the Rugby World cup and the Rena.
As a policy adviser you will be part of a specialist transport sector team, but will be exposed to all aspects of transport policy. You will be given the opportunity to work on projects across the Ministry, providing you with exciting development and growth prospects.
We would like to hear from graduates with an eye for detail, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a high level of numeracy and the ability to work with and develop an understanding of economic principles.
