The Ministry of Transport website has been specially designed for people with disabilities. It has features that are aimed at people with visual impairment and those who prefer to use the keyboard rather than a mouse.
Using the site without a mouse
The site can be used without a mouse. There are shortcut keys that will take you to commonly used pages such as the home page and the search page.
To use these shortcut keys hold down the ALT key (PC) or CONTROL key (Apple Macintosh) and then one of the keys in the table below. In some browsers you may have to press enter to confirm your choice. In the Opera 7 browser press Shift-Esc, release those keys, and then press your chosen access key.
In Internet Explorer
Alt + 1 + Enter = Homepage
Alt + 2 + Enter = Site Map
Alt + 3 + Enter = Search field
Alt + 9 + Enter = Contact Information
Alt + ] + Enter = Bypass the navigation and go to the featured content
Alt + / + Enter = New Zealand Government website
In Mozilla Firefox
Alt + Shift + 1 = Homepage
Alt + Shift + 2 = Site Map
