Senior Adviser (Vehicle Safety), Land Transport Environment and Safety

You will enhance vehicle safety standards and compliance through expert policy and legislation advice.
Working hand in hand with legal and economic specialists, you will aim for consistent vehicle standards and regulations that foster greater community understanding and compliance.

You’ll analyse areas of concern and follow them through to legislative solution, communicating openly with the transport agencies public and specialist groups. You will also research and note new trends and improvement opportunities. As an influential negotiator, you will represent the Ministry to key groups and Select Committees. At the same time, you will interpret legislation, provide clear, reasoned and well-supported advice, be receptive to new concepts and create imaginative solutions. 

You have relevant (preferably post-graduate) qualifications and sound knowledge of the vehicle industry and legislative process. You are also ideally familiar with public policy development, wider transport sector issues and project and operational staff management.

Senior Adviser, Public Transport Access and Mobility

We are seeking an experienced policy adviser to work in the rapidly developing area of sustainable transport. You will be working on policy relating to public transport, active transport, demand management access and mobility.

Experience in providing policy advice, leading policy development processes and project management is necessary for this role.  You will manage and interact with stakeholders to achieve results and develop strong collaborative working relationships with key transport sector agencies.

The successful applicant will be a self-starter who is stimulated by managing a mix of projects, and can positively influence processes and people to make things happen.

Principal Adviser, Public Transport, Access and Mobility

You’ll provide advice, leadership and strategic direction on public transport, walking and cycling, and access and mobility in the Land Transport Investment and Development Group.

You’ll interpret legislation, lead critical projects, research and write incisive reports and represent the Ministry to external agencies and Cabinet Committees.

You will have an understanding of the transport sector, sustainable transport issues and policy development, you’ll foster and sustain valuable contact networks, identify trends and opportunities and track innovative solutions from concept to implementation.

Adviser, Land Transport Safety Management

As an adviser, you will play a key part in contributing to land transport safety across the transport sector. 

You will provide policy advice on how to reduce injuries and death on road/rail. This will involve working with our road safety partners to identify trends, opportunities and develop road safety initiatives. Experience in policy advice, policy development and project management is necessary for this role. 

The successful applicant will be a self-starter preferably with a tertiary qualification.

A sound knowledge of safety issues and the transport sector would assist.

IT Business Analyst - Project Manager

If you enjoy problem solving, have a good understanding of IT systems, enjoy working on a wide variety of tasks and want to work with great people  – then we want to talk to you.

In this newly created position, the IT Business Analyst will play an important role in providing the Ministry with high quality support in regard to IT initiatives.

A key aspect of this role will be managing the definition, progress, quality and delivery of MOSS based projects in partnership with our outsource providers, Provoke. You will be working with Ministry staff at all levels as well as liaising with external consultants and other project managers.

The ability to translate business needs into technology solutions is critical to this role. Therefore, an analytical approach and a sound knowledge of current technology is essential.

You will manage a demanding workload; have a disciplined and systematic approach to your work, excellent communication skills and a high level of initiative and motivation.
