Simplified road user charges system in place (1 August 2012)

Changes to simplify the road user charges (RUC) system have come into effect.

Changes include:

• every heavy vehicle given a permanent RUC weight
• removing supplementary licences and time licences
• changes to the exemptions regime
• reduced administration fees for RUC licence purchases
