STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT PROCESS - BROAD OUTLINE
The National Road Safety Committee (NRSC)*, led by the Ministry of Transport, is to initiate a process of "pre-policy" engagement with stakeholders prior to providing Government with policy proposals to complete implementation of the Government's Road Safety to 2010 strategy.
This process is built around an initial series of stakeholder workshops which will be held during July/August 2006 across New Zealand.
It is proposed to work closely with the New Zealand wide team of Road Safety Coordinators, District Councils, NZ Police, Land Transport New Zealand, Transit New Zealand and local interest groups, to arrange and deliver the stakeholder workshops, to ensure that people at the local and community levels have the opportunity to engage in pre-policy discussions.

* The National Road Safety Committee comprises the Secretary for Transport, the Commissioner of Police, the Chief Executives of Land Transport New Zealand, Transit New Zealand, the Accident Compensation Corporation, and Local Government New Zealand. The Chief Executives of the Ministries of Labour, Health and Justice as associate members.
