Submissions on the Land Transport (Driver Licensing) Amendment Rule [2011] closed on 20 December 2010. Among the Rule amendment proposals are changes to improve the safety of young drivers and motorcyclists and moped riders, to improve the integrity of the driver licensing system and to make business processes clearer and easier.
Vehicle Lighting
The NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) completed consultation on the Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Lighting Amendment [2011] on 5 November 2010. The proposed amendment Rule amends the provisions for safety requirements for vehicle lighting equipment, so as to allow for equipment which can be operated without compromising safety and which is equally or better designed, constructed, positioned or maintained. The Rule also reviews and sets approved standards for vehicle lighting equipment. More information on consultation and making a submission is available on the NZTA website.
