New Zealand has bilateral air services agreements (ASAs) with the following countries and territories (the current agreement is the most recent year with the dates of earlier agreements also listed):

A Multilateral Agreement on the Liberalization of International Air Transportation (
MALIAT) which came into force on 21 December 2001, has been signed by Brunei, Chile, New Zealand, Singapore and the United States of America, and ratified by the following countries (the dates of earlier bilateral agreements with New Zealand are also listed):

- Chile (1992, 1998, 2002)
- Cook Islands (1986, 2000, 2006)
- Mongolia (2008)
- New Zealand
- Samoa (1978, 2000, 2002)
- Singapore (1968, 1997)
- Tonga (1980, 2002, 2004)
- United States of America (1946, 1964, 1997, 2001)
The bilateral agreements New Zealand has with Brunei, Chile, Samoa, Singapore, Tonga and the United States are suspended as a result. Peru joined the MALIAT on 17 May 2002 and withdrew with effect from 15 January 2005.
Notes:
- Air services agreements with a number of other countries are at various stages of negotiation. An agreement with the Netherlands has been announced but not yet signed. Services are being provided under the agreement, which is in provisional effect.
- A 'horizontal' agreement(PDF, v7.0, 60kb) signed in 2006 with the European Commission amends New Zealand's air services agreements with European Union member states.
- There is a non-governmental air links agreement covering Taiwan - CAA (1996).
