The government has confirmed that from 1 August 2011 all taxis operating in our larger centres will be fitted with security cameras in a move designed to enhance the safety of both taxi drivers and their passengers.
Following public consultation in 2009, the government released its new ten year road safety strategy called Safer Journeys in March 2010. It aims to reduce the number of people killed and injured on our roads over the next decade.
