The government has released the National Rail Strategy to 2015, which followed a consultation process initiated by the release of the Draft National Rail Strategy in September 2004. The National Rail Strategy to 2015 provides a framework to develop rail in order to realise these potential benefits and sets out the government's policy and objectives for rail over the next ten years, with a focus on increasing the amount of freight and commuters on rail.
