Crash Blackspots

The Crash Blackspots document contains tables that list the worst crash blackspots at both national and regional levels.

A blackspot here is defined as a concentration of urban crashes within a 30m radius, or a concentration of open road crashes within a 250m radius, and three or more fatal or serious injury crashes in five years.

In each list the blackspots are ordered by the total number of crashes at the site.

The intention is to list the 20 worst sites for each region. In some cases there are not 20 sites that meet the criteria. In other cases, because there are a number of sites with an equal number of crashes, the list has not been limited to 20.

The tables in the document are based on 2004-2008 data.
