Understanding Transport Costs and Charges Phase Two

The Ministry of Transport is undertaking a study to update the knowledge of transport costs and charges. It is anticipated that this study will be completed by December 2010. Phase One of the study is now complete.

Social and environmental costs:

• Externalities: methods for attributing costs between internal and external components (PDF v7.0, 234kb) (completed)

Costs of road safety:

• The social cost of road crashes and injuries (completed)
• Value of statistical life: a meta analysis (PDF v7.0, 1.06mb) (completed)
• Loss of output and productivity - to be advised
