The Ministry of Transport is undertaking a review of how past complaints of bullying and harassments have been dealt with in the CAA. The scope of the review also includes Avsec. The Ministry’s review will also consider the broader work environmental and organisational culture of the CAA. The review will make recommendations for improving the CAA’s workplace environment and culture, including how cases of bullying and harassment are managed. Any former or current CAA staff who would like to provide information on these matters can contact the Ministry at CAAReview@transport.govt.nz or call Robert Anderson, Principal Advisor, Ministry of Transport on 022 019 1246.
The CAA has commissioned a separate investigation to assess specific allegations of inappropriate behaviour and conduct within Avsec. The investigation is being led by barrister David Laurenson QC. This investigation provides an opportunity for Avsec staff to bring forward any current issues relating to behaviour and conduct within Avsec. Note the review of Avsec will not assess or make observations on the organisational culture.
Any staff that would like to raise specific concerns about behaviour and conduct within Avsec should do so by contacting Nick McGirr, Acting General Manager Organisational Development at firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange an appointment with the independent investigator David Laurenson QC.
How to submit your complaint
The following guide assists in determining the appropriate channels for raising any concerns relating to the behaviour, conduct and culture of the CAA.
There is a process in cases where individuals are bound by a Non-Disclosure Agreement with the CAA and wish to share their concerns with the review team. CAA have agreed, in any case where a person requests a waiver of a Non-Disclosure Agreement, that they will sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement Waiver.
Contact the Ministry of Transport review team at CAAReview@transport.govt.nz if;
- you had previously raised a workplace issue and were not happy with how it was handled or the outcome
- or want to talk generally about workplace culture and behaviours you have experienced or seen.
If you are an Avsec staff member and you want to raise a concern about a current workplace problem of inappropriate behaviour or conduct involving yourself or colleagues you can contact Nick McGirr, Acting General Manager Organisational Development at email@example.com to arrange an appointment with the independent investigator David Laurenson QC.
