Introduction

The Government has reaffirmed its commitment to reducing transport emissions by focusing its efforts on the areas where the greatest reductions can be made, such as our biggest cities.

Clean Car Upgrade

The aim of the Clean Car Upgrade was to help families on low- and middle- incomes shift to cleaner vehicles or low-emission alternative transport options while removing an unsafe, high emissions vehicle from our roads. People who scrapped their vehicle with the Clean Car Upgrade would receive support towards the purchase of cleaner vehicles or transport choices like bikes, e-bikes, or public transport.

Social leasing scheme

The aim of the Social Leasing scheme was to help families on low-incomes access low and zero-emissions vehicles at a set weekly price. The affordable weekly lease was also intended to cover the cost of vehicle maintenance, insurance, and registration.
