What you need to know

Transport plays a major role in New Zealand’s society and economy. It contributes to job creation, our social, cultural and sporting interactions, and it supports growth in international trade and tourism.

We published 2 reports in 2017 about the current and future states of our transport system. The Current State report provided an overview of our transport system, which was the first time this information was collated in 1 place. The Future State report provided common information, assumptions and projections for those involved in transport policy and planning.
