Temporary changes to vehicle and driver licensing due to COVID-19 

2021

Further extension to driver licences

The Government has further extended the validity of driver licences and endorsements and identification cards in response to ongoing restrictions imposed in response to the outbreak of COVID-19.

Extension to WoFs, CoFs, driver licences and vehicle licences

The Government has extended the validity of WoFs, CoFs, driver licences, vehicle licences and endorsements that expired on or before 21 July 2021 through to 30 November 2021.

2020

The government announced temporary changes to extend driver licences and vehicle certification documents due to COVID-19. Most of the changes are set out in a new Rule: Land Transport Rule: COVID-19 Response (No 1) 2020 which can be viewed on the Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency website
