Air New Zealand and Cathay Pacific submitted an application on 6 November 2018 for reauthorisation of their North Asia Alliance Agreement. The Minister of Transport first authorised the Alliance Agreement on 1 November 2012, and reauthorised the agreement on 26 August 2015 for a period ending October 2019.
Under the alliance, the two airlines coordinate their capacity, scheduling and pricing on services between Auckland and Hong Kong, and ‘feeder routes’ (the New Zealand domestic part of a route that connects to a flight between Auckland and Hong Kong).
