The Office of the Privacy Commissioner believes our current laws protect people’s privacy when they are filmed and recorded by drones. The Commissioner has prepared guidance for drones fitted with cameras about how to comply with the Privacy Act.
There are also other New Zealand laws relevant to using drones if you film and record. For example, it is against the law to make intimate recordings of people without their consent or knowledge, and to publish them.
