As the lead agency for maritime security policy in New Zealand, we chair the Maritime Security Oversight Committee and host a small cross-sector team to implement the Maritime Security Strategy.

The Maritime Security Oversight Committee is made up of 11 Government agencies and is part of the national security system. It is responsible for overseeing New Zealand's maritime security arrangements.

The Maritime Security Strategy ensures New Zealand has a maritime security sector that is able to continue to secure New Zealand’s marine economic, cultural and environmental interests for future generations.
