The International Transport Forum has produced a report simulating the potential effects of shared mobility in Auckland.  Shared mobility refers to the use of shared taxis taking up to six passengers or taxi-buses taking 8-16 passengers.

The study indicates potential benefits from the introduction of shared mobility services in Auckland in reducing the size of the vehicle fleet, congestion, greenhouse gas emissions, and parking requirements, depending on the level of uptake.  The Auckland report is part of an international study.  Similar simulations have been carried out to date on Lisbon, and Helsinki.
